Where You Live Friday: Our Semi-Homemade Guest Suite

Time for Where You Live Friday over at Kelly's Korner. (Hmmm, Sunday is a 2 day improvement over last week!)
.
This room is not done. I'm still picking out curtains, still deciding what to put on top of these sconces (if anything). But the room is about warmth. About being invited. And that's why we picked this amazing warm shade of orange. (I told you my husband is a genius when it comes to color!!)

We've been talking about new furniture for this room for the 7+ years we've been married. But life happens and new furniture hasn't happened. Yet. And this furniture has meaning behind it. It was a gift from my grandparents..... when I moved to KS for my first job after college. And I had nothing. In the way of furniture anyway. :)

There's a hodge podge of picture frames in this room. And a hodge podge of memories. This is one of my favorite pictures from one of my most special days. :)

And in this picture, at one of our favorite places, I was 3 months pregnant with Big Sister. (The one behind it.... if you can see it.... is Christmas that same year. Big Sis was born 4 days later!)

I called it our Semi-Homemade Guest Suite because this bedroom also has it's own private bath. Mr. Fix-It and I picked these mirrors. We loved them so much (and they were such a good deal!) that we bought 5 of them and used them in every bathroom in this house.
And the granite is also in every bath.
The bathroom is decorated in a baby blue and chocolate brown....
I initially thought the tile in this bathroom was too dark.... but I should have known better than to doubt the skills of the best builder around.

And here's the view from this upstairs room:

Thanks to all of you for the sweet comments every week. Oh.... and some of you have mentioned that you are in the building procese and want to pick the same counters, cabinets, etc, that we have. (How flattering!) If you'd like more information on anything, feel free to email me at oursemihomemadelife at yahoo dot com. I'd love to hear from y'all!
.
Next week: Dining rooms. It's a holiday weekend (and we're going to OK to meet baby Carter!), so I might be even later than usual getting mine up!
