Snow Day in TEXAS

Or what I was doing while management was in MY meeting. (I'm over it, I promise. Okay, I'm mostly over it. I'll BE over it after happy hour on Thurs. And again on Fri.)

Quiz: Is G-man crying because:
a) he was forced to wear his sister's coat when his mysteriously disappeared?
b) he hates the snow - that's why he lives in TX, damnit!?
c) he took 1 step in the snow and face planted? (okay, I can't help but giggle. sorry, g-man!)
d) all of the above

You know it's always, always d!!! Poor g....

Seriously, Big Sis was out to impress! mr. fix-it said, roll a snowball for a snowman... and she did it like it was part of her regular day. You go, Southern girl!

The finished product! Frosty with his new friends, the Semi-Homemades. And yes... Frosty is an Oklahoma State fan (go, pokes!) He's sporting his o-state cowboy hat and scarf! (And that's popcorn from Mom and Popcorn for his eyes and mouth, lol!)

Big Sis making snow angels. We got a FOOT of snow! A foot! Which means that Big Sis could do snow angels and not even sink to the ground - crazy!

She convinced daddy that HE needed to do snow angels, too... lol....

G-man was watching safely from his post on the porch. That boy did NOT like the snow. He must get that from his momma. And he's trying to pull off that manly hat to combat his pink & grey plaid peacoat.... I'm still laughing. ;)

The snow missed us today - woo hoo! And seriously, I have a call in to Spring and she better be on the way stat. But we'll always remember this snow day... in more ways than one! What a fun day with my kiddos!

I hate you, Tax-Free Weekend!

I usually avoid any kind of shopping during tax-free weekend. It's just waaaay too much trouble. (Now, maybe if I had nothing better to do....and treated it like a competition or sport.... like the moms that were in Gymbo this morning.... but saving $8 out of every $100 is not enough savings for this working momma for the time it takes to get said savings. I'm just saying....)

Anyway, as you know, G-man needs new shoes! By Monday, as it turns out. Because he's (sniff, sniff) graduating to the big boy classroom. So... in order to try to avoid the Sat/Sun chaos of Tax-Free Weekend, I decided to take an early lunch and head to the mall at 11am today.

And that's when I met Officer Rich..... The instant I saw the lights, I had tears streaming down my face. And by the time he approached the car, I was in full-on silent sob mode. (Yes, I'm tired.... I've been up since 1am with a child who shakes because she's so afraid of storms.... and I've worked a million hours AGAIN this week, while still falling behind in this impossible-to-do-job... I'm normally not a cry baby, I promise!)

Anyway, he was very polite, but very unaffected by my tears and stream of non-waterproof mascara... And now I have a date with the municipal court (because I've been so successful at escaping the office for ANY reason during business hours..... hence, why I currently have my very last set of contacts in my eyes right this second and why my dentist thinks I've left her).

Mr. Fix-It was sweet and told me it was no biggie.... I couldn't even tell him how much the ticket will cost, because they don't put that on the citation anymore! (I haven't had a speeding ticket since 2002 in KS - I was on my way to pick up my wedding dress.... in between meetings....yes, I see a pattern here...)

So, the new jeans for momma came off my lunch-time shopping trip.... (I haven't bought myself new clothes since I was shopping in the maternity section last year!) But I did manage to score some amazing deals at Bath & Body (if you have those 20% off entire purchase coupons right now... you can combine it with their 7/$20 foam soaps and get 7/$16!!) And I was able to snag a couple cute things from Gymbo (that evil, evil place!) because I could maneuver the check out line easier than those moms (with the babies in the double stroller, older kids wanting snacks, and their Circle of Friends coupon in the bottom of their diaper bags!)

If you're looking for me this weekend.... I'll be at home, hiding from the mall and all this evil tax-free stuff! ;)

Money won't buy happiness.... or A/C, apparently...

I myself am guilty - proud even - to wear Old Navy capris with BCBGirl wedges. Wear a target dress and carry my HUGE Coach Carly bag. I get that. But.... this combo didn't seem to 'go' as well.
Rehearsal at Scmallardia.
Rehearsal dinner at Courtyard by Marriot. In a conference room. With catered BBQ. Honestly, that part of the evening was more my laid-back style. And that BBQ was YUMMY! But after the grandieur of the Schmallardia, the Courtyard felt a little more like... Motel 6. Know what I mean?

And as I sat in a nearby Braums last Sat afternoon.... thinking thru this.... Mr. Fix-It was honoring his groomsman duties. He had 3 hours of photos (like the cheesy one where all the groomsmen jump in the air, etc!). I was catching up on thank you notes and eating choc frozen yogurt. Duh. Watching the temperature on the nearby bank climb. It was supposed to be 82. But it was already 93. At that moment, I get a text from Mr. Fix-It. "The a/c appears to be out in the area where we are holed up." Lovely. Ironic. Hilarious. Except for poor Mr. Fix-It. In his tux. I bet he was ready to high tail it back to the Courtyard and their air conditioning...

Later that weekend, he filled me in with much, much more blog material from his 3 hours at the Schmallardia, but I'll spare you all the details. Just know that Pompass Ass followed them around for 3 hours, making sure they didn't touch anything. I kid you not. Someone got near a marble table, and he proceeded to tell them all how much it cost. Geez.... And when they broke out the beer (outside drinks were strictly prohibited!), I thought he was going to have a coronary!

Oh, and that top pic? Just another reason why I love Sasha! People ARE crazy. So bring on the beer. But don't forget the air conditioning....
