DEFINITELY not mom of the year...

I just jumped off the treadmill (I finished wk 7 of c25k - yea!!), and thought I'd download the pics from Silly Week at the kids' school. Except when I went to pop out the memory card, it wasn't there. And hadn't been. All week. All those cute pictures... the ones I took even if it meant we'd be running late to work... not there. I'm an idiot. I'm not sure if this makes me feel stupid or just validates my sleep deprivation.
Either way.... you'll have to imagine the silliness of Mix Match Day.... of Pajama day... and today was Silly hair/crazy hat day. Big Sister had pigtails with a zigzag part. G-man... well, G-man wears his crazy hat EVERY day. ;)

If I had the time, I'd dress them up and recreate it all. But I don't. And I guess this way, it's easier to forget the fact that a) we forgot on Monday and the kids didn't show up in silly socks, and b) this momma is just too worn out to participate in Favorite Book Character day tomorrow. I'm all silly-ed out.

So, g-man hasn't been himself lately.... today is day 10 of his antibiotic and I just have this suspicion that he didn't recover from his ear infection, as intended. He doesn't have a fever, a cold, anything.... he's just not himself.... and has been having some dramatic (theatrical, I'd say) outbursts lately. And it's mommy intuition, I guess. So, Mr. Fix-It is taking him to the ped today to get checked out..... if he DOES, in fact, have an ear infection, we will be delaying his 6 month shots for the 3rd time. I'm on to him..... everytime it's time for shots, he's sick. ;)

Lately, I'm feeling like we can't win for losing. We haven't gone more than a day without someone on an antibiotic or home sick. Having sick kids is stressful. Being a working mommy, it's even more stressful. Where am I going with this?

Well..... Mr. Fix-It calls me after he drops off the kids this morning, to tell me that Big Sister had goo oozing out of her ear. Oh, and it was bloody. The good news is that this must be in the ear that still has a functioning tube (because the tube in the other ear is falling out). What worries me is that - after 2 sets of tubes and now that she's 3 yrs old - she's not "supposed to be" having ear issues. I love that we always seem to be the exception.

And if you're not convinced that it's an epidemic just yet..... Miss P Everything got tubes this morning and my niece in OK is getting her 2nd set tomorrow. Geez. We all should have been ENTs.

This much I know for sure...

1. That the recession sucks. And it's keeping me from the elusive housekeeper that I had promised myself would be mine, once I became a full time working mommy of 2. I hate cutting back.
My new philosophy is to just let go. Worrying about a messy house isn't giving me any extra time to clean. So, if you're coming over, don't expect perfection, okay? Okay, done.

2. That Etsy is totally a recession-proof savior. Look at this! For $12-15, you get a DIY dress kit - they send a pattern, fabric, thread, and any accessories (buttons, whatever!) needed to make a dress (or skirt or tunic) for your little tot. Okay, I can't sew and that's kinda a problem... but my mom can and I'm emailing her now! So, all you crafty, sewing moms... visit Little Fish in a Big Pond!

3. That silly week at school might be silly for kids.... but for parents, it just means alot of last minute scrambing. I'll try to share pics from yesterday's mix-match day, though - the kiddos looked pretty darn funny!

4. That I'm lucky to have a couple friends that are helping me get thru the chaos that is life lately - lots of sickness, no sleep, and managing life in general. I'm so glad that Mrs. Everything can come over and turn a blind eye to the mess at the Semi-homemade house and act like everything is normal. Because this IS the new normal. ;) She doesn't even tell me she can see the bags under my eyes!

5. That ABC has created both a horrific monster of a show and a whole lotta genius. Last night... I'm watching the After the After the Final Rose (at 11pm. when I should be sleeping.), and I declare that I will never again get caught up in this trash. Ever. I'm so mad at Jason that he feels like everything he's done is justified because he's "following his heart" and it's what he's "feeling" so that makes it all okay. Um, no, it doesn't. I feel like quitting my job sometimes, but that doesn't mean I just do it.

Not 5 minutes after I swear off the show for life, they bring out the upcoming bachelorette. And it's Jillian, which is no surprise, but the girl is just so cute and she always has on great dresses. (Remember the cute preppy green and blue one from what is probably now her favorite episode? The one she where got kicked off! Too bad it's from last season and unavailable - I loved it!) Damn ABC....

Y'all. There is too much. Too much hilarious commentary about The Bachelor. This stuff is actually BETTER than the show. I love it. And IT keeps finding ME. Don't know how, but I promise I'm not lying.

It does make me laugh a little bit that both Melissa and Molly think one day of good times with Ty equals MOTHERHOOD SUCCESS!

And then, a black car pulls up, and I AM SO DELIGHTED by the sight of DeAnna Pappas that I have chills. But let’s forget all that and please consider the following question: WHAT IN THE SAM HILL IS SHE WEARING? Is she now selling real estate in New Zealand? Is that why she has on a business suit? ...because I’m so puzzled by her jacket. Is it shantung? Is it taffeta? The mind boggles.

Jason tells Molly that he has to let her go, and she tells him that he’s made a mistake - a big one. Then her eyes turn into daggers of fire and all of New Zealand goes up in flames.
Meanwhile, back in the limo, Molly says that Jason has made a mistake about five times, and she doesn’t blink at all. I am frightened.

My take on the Bachelor

Okay, after watching last night, ONE thing is completely apparent. Molly has no future in acting. Whatsover. OMG! She couldn't even fake it! It was obvious that she and Jason, during one of their forbidden phone calls, had a conversation that went something like this:

Molly: Wow, I'm so much smarter than everyone else. I totally knew you were making a mistake and I was right. I win.

Jason: Yes, you've made me see how smart you are. Since I have no clue what I want, I'm going to trust that, in your wisdom, you know what I need. BUT... we'll look like a$$holes if we've been talking while I'm engaged to Melissa, so when we go on tv, we MUST act like we haven't talked. Can you pull that off?

Molly: Of course. Aren't I smarter than Chris Harrison and Melissa and America?

I mean, not talking? OF COURSE, they've been talking. I just can't believe that jack-you-know-what did that to sweet Dallas girl Melissa. Why do I even watch?

I didn't have time to read this whole post, but click here for some more bachelor talk - she's hysterical! She totally has Molly pegged (love the part about the excess ponytails!), and I agree with almost everything she says. Poor Ty!!

Okay, I'm over it... on to next wk's Dancing with the Stars. Which I got hooked on when Big Sister fell in love with the show.

Guess who's expecting!

No, not me. Duh. If you read this blog, you can already see that I can barely keep it all together with 'just' the 2 crazy kiddos. Talk to me in 2011.

The Everythings are Expecting!!! Isn't that exciting? We couldn't be more thrilled! (Crazy to think that in no time.... we'll be a party of 8!!! when we head out for dinner with the kids!)

Lookie what came today!

Mmmmmm.........

Everyone has their favorites, and what's even funnier is how many people I know that store their cookies differently. For example, I put my Thin Mints straight into the freezer... and my other favs, the Trefoils, will be calling to me from the pantry. Big Sister picked out the low sugar choc chip cookies, and Mr. Fix-It loves those peanut butter sandwich ones. He stores them where no one can find them (just kidding, Mr. Fix-It!!)

Good thing that none of them are dairy-free.... so they have a chance of sitting around the Semi-homemade household for awhile...

Thanks to several of you (hi, Sasha!) that let me on to the little comment issue I was experiencing... Should be all fixed now, so feel free to comment away! (Then I don't feel AS much like I'm talking to myself!)

Quick helmet update: I've told y'all that baby G-man had a big ole, flat noggin (plagiocephaly, if you want to be medical about it). Meaning the back of is head had absolutely no curve to it. Whatsoever. Even if you tried to close one eye and squint or hold his hair down a certain way. We tried all those things. And it wasn't quite symmetrical either.

But, in the end, he got that expensive piece of headgear y'all have seen in the pics (yep, our lovely insurance.... I won't name any names, but cigna, you know who you are.... 'they' didn't pay one dime for it, despite all the good medical reasons given.) Anyway. He's been in it since Jan 16, which has given us a free pass all the way down to Dallas every single Friday so that it can be adjusted. And at the last appt, we're finally moving to every other week appts - yea!!! And y'all should see the progress he's made. I tried to look for pics that show his newly rounded head, but he's only out of the helmet for 1 hour a day... I'll def post a before/after when we're done.

But here he is in his cute onesie from Aunt Ellen.... I love to take him out in this! It says... Just reshaping my head!
